Being respectful of the environment is part of our core values. By developing a running gear collection made from 100% recycled polyester and certified by the Global Recycled Standard, this green initiative will allow us to be even more sustainable.
OUR JOURNEY TOWARDS
ECO COLLECTION — We have developed a running gear collection made from 100% recycled polyester (rPET polyester) and certified by the Global Recycled Standard. We are very proud to be the first brand in the world doing belts, armbands and handheld bottles made from rPET polyester !
DISCOVERY SERIES — We have created a hiking backpack collection inspired by three magnificent Canadian national parks. For this collection, we partnered with the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS).
RPET stands for recycled polyethylene terephthalate. This polyester is 100% recycled and made from recycled plastic bottles. To obtain rPET bottles, bottles have been collected, washed, sorted and then crushed. Afterwards, they are transformed into chips through a recycling process. The chips are after melted and transformed into fiber and then into textile.
Global Recycled Standard (GRS)
All products from ECO Collection are certified by the Global Recycled Standard. The goal of the GRS is to increase use of Recycled materials in products and reduce/eliminate the harm caused by its production.
- Materials are verified to meet the ISO definition of recycled.
- GRS sites are required to meet strict social and environmental requirements. Chemicals with potential for harm are not permitted to be used on GRS products.
- Certification ensures that the identity of the recycled material is maintained: from the recycler to the final product.
- A professional, third party certification body audits each stage in the supply chain.
Partnership with Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS)
For each Discovery Series hiking backpack sold, Life Sports Gear pledges to make a donation to the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) to protect and preserve species, habitats and ecosystems.
The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) is Canada’s only nationwide charity dedicated solely to the protection of the public land, ocean, freshwater and ensuring the parks are managed to protect the nature within them. In the past 50+ years, it has played a lead role in protecting over half a million square kilometres. Its vision is to protect at least half of the public land and water so that future generations can experience Canada’s irreplaceable wilderness. Click here for more information.
